Best Time of Year to Visit Park City

For winter enthusiasts, the best time to visit Park City is from December to March. Temperatures average from 30-40° during the day, dropping into the single digits at night. The climate is perfect for the average 300-400 inches of snowfall the city receives on an annual basis. Bundled up next to a fire or getting your blood pumping flying down the ski hill, you won’t mind the cold one bit. January is one of the busiest months to visit, due to the festivals such as Celebrity Ski Fest and Sundance Film Festival.

From March to May, the city and mountain are in full bloom with breathtaking flowers and plants coming back to life. The earlier of these months are still an excellent time to ski, as the large amount of snow cover takes time to fully melt off. Temperatures range from 45-65° during the day, dropping to a still-cool 25-35° at night.

For all the reasons we listed in our earlier tabs, summer is also an amazing time to visit Park City. Due to the elevation, you won’t see the extreme temperatures of other vacation destinations, with averages running from 75-80° during the day and dropping down into the 40s and 50s at night. The comfortable daytime temperatures are perfect for outdoor activities without feeling like you need to get out of the sun. Crowds are lower in the summer as well, a perfect time to take advantage of the dining scene.

Who would want to miss out on the gorgeous fall colors that mountain towns have to offer? Park City is no different, fall being a fantastic time to take advantage of the amazing hiking trails all around the city and catching the colors as they change. Fall festivals are also aplenty in the city, and with temperatures ranging from 70-45° during the day, it’s still pleasant enough to walk around and see the sights.
