The Perfect Vacation Stay
by Kim D.
The cabin was perfect in just about every way. Size, location, and price. The cabin was stocked with everything you might need. The location was great... it was very easy to get to everywhere in the park. And you can’t beat the price. It was a wonderful place to stay.
Le tout inclus ...ou presque !
by Nadia L.
Great Cabin!!
by Thomas H.
Acadia Explorer Cabin was exactly what we were looking for. Owners met us on arrival and explained the cabin layout and nearby trails for hiking. Cabin was bigger and nicer than the photos from website. Very clean and sits on a private lot at end of road and is very quiet. We would definitely recommend this cabin and can’t wait for a return trip. Cabin was a 25- 30 min drive to downtown Bar Harbor. Thank you for letting us stay in your cabin. Hope to see you again soon. We miss Maine already!!! Thanks for everything Thomas And Samantha Hodge
Great small cabin in wonderful spot.
by Susan M.
Loved being able to walk out the backdoor to access trails of Acadia. If you want to do a lot of things on the busy side, it’s a bit of a drive.
Great place! Great cabin! Great experience!l loved everything about our stay!
by Cindy V.
We loved our stay in the cabin. It was perfect and had everything we needed. Plenty of privacy, but if we needed anything, Rob and Marj were available to help, even though we had all that we needed. Trails into the park, right outside our door, were fun and easy walks. The location was perfect, close enough to everything in the park, but far enough away that it was always quiet. Relaxing on the screened in porch or by a campfire each evening, was a wonderful way to start and end each day. We have already recommended the cabin to many others, and hope to someday return. Thanks, Rob and Marj for a great trip!
Nice cabin with everything we needed.
by Terry H.
Great location on the “quiet” side. Very comfortable cabin with everything we needed. Nice trails within walking distance from cabin.
A fun relaxing vacation spot!
by Jessica S.
I loved everything about this property. The location was far enough away from the crowds but not a far drive to any of the major attractions. Hiking trails right out the back door. The owners were very friendly as well and the place was super clean!
Cabin in the woods...
by Patty E.
The cabin was exactly as described and we were happy with our stay here. It was easy to get to Acadia and Bar Harbor from here and I would stay here again. Peaceful cabin in the woods!
Great Cozy Cabin
by Alisa G.
I didn't know much about the area before we booked, but I'm glad we ended up in SW Harbor, it was one of our favorite harbors in Acadia. The cabin was perfect for our three-member family. It was also very clean, well-kept, and we had everything we needed to cook every night. The location is in a beautiful wooded area, and very quiet. The owners are very nice and accommodating. The two cats that hang around the property were an added plus. 🙂 Also, we were lucky in the sense that there was a family with two kids in the other cabin down the road, so our daughter had a great time playing with them during the week and making smores over our campfire. We had a great stay!
Perfect little cabin on the quiet side of the island
by Becca B.
This cabin was exactly as described with everything that we needed for a week long stay. Very clean and well maintained. Trails right outside your door, with easy access and a short drive to the rest of the island. Highly recommended, you will not be disappointed!!!
Nestle in the woods
by Julie F.
This cute little cabin is nestled in a perfect spot! Quite and just steps to trails (Southwest Harbor). Owners are wonderful and very friendly and helpful!
Perfect for after hiking the parks trail to come to a place that feels like home!
July 2019
by Stephen C.
This cabin was exactly what we were looking for. Beautifully maintained, amenities were just as listed. We have been to MDI many times and always stay in Southwest Harbor. Great access to the entire island, we hiked everyday and spent the afternoon at Echo Lake Beach a few times. Fires at night were a nice way to end the days. We are planning next years trip and will be staying here again. Rob and Marj greeted us and were very pleasant. Thank you, see you next year.

Awesome!!
by Jason K.
Great cabin!! Great spot!! Lots of trails to explore right out of the front door!!
Perfect location
by Rebecca C.
This cabin was perfect for our trip to visit family in SWH. Great location! It’s tucked into the forest but still a quick drive into town. Easy access to hiking trails. The kitchen is pretty basic (no oven), which was the only real downside for us. Will definitely be back next year!
Acadia Exploration
by Margaret G.
This was our first time staying on the “Quiet Side” of MDI , after coming to Maine for the past 23 years. The cabin was very clean, secluded and quiet, yet convenient for our various activities. We found hiking opportunities right down the road from its front door. If we chose to eat out, there were plenty of restaurants in Southwest Harbor or, a bit further away, in Bass Harbor. The Cranberry Cove Ferry made it easy to travel to the Cranberry Islands for a day. And at the end of each day, it was good to come “home” to the cozy cabin with it’s relaxing setting and screened in porch!
Quiet Getaway
by Kammy S.
Beautiful setting on the quiet side of Mt. Desert Island. Easy access to hiking trails, Acadia National Park, restaurants, and the ocean. Enjoyed the screened porch and fire pit. Would highly recommend!
Loved it!
by Lindsey F.
Great little cabin to stay in while exploring MDI and Acadia. We loved how it was on the quiet side of the island so we could escape the crowds of Acadia. There's even trails a few steps from the front door which was an added bonus. Rob and Marj greeted us when we arrived, they were very nice and helpful! I have already recommended it to friends and family.
Thanks again Rob and Marj!
A gem in the woods
by Janet K.
Cozy, clean cabin in great location in SW Harbor. Everything we needed including a
Fire pit for a toasty treat at night. Quiet and serene atmosphere with a great hiking trail up a beautiful mountain Just a few yards from cabin door. All we could have asked for and more.
First time in Acadia
by Becky L.
A perfect place to explore all Acadia has to offer. Mary and Rob were right there to greet us and couldn’t have been nicer. Really enjoyed the “quiet side” and the town of Southwest Harbor. The cabin was everything we needed and very comfortable. Loved having a fire every night! Felt very secluded in the pine trees within easy walking distance to several hiking trails. Very nice grocery store just a short drive away. Especially appreciative of the washer/dryer in the cabin! Just an all around great place!
Perfect get away!
by Laureen M.
We love coming to MDI and especially love staying on Southwest Harbor. We have vacationed in each of Robs cabins and both were perfect. Rob and Marj are wonderful people. So friendly and very accommodating. Our cabin had everything we needed and plenty of privacy. They were very clean, heated, nice kitchen areas, washer/dryer and screened in porches. The property borders Acadia National Park, so we could hike right outside the front door. Can’t wait to go back next year!
Cabin
by Georgette N.
Very neat quiet this has a beautiful view sitting on porch can see deer in yard. Away from all the hustle of the rest of the island would definitely recommend this rental
Great cabin in the woods.
by Steve D.
Truly enjoyed our stay. Thank you for a wonderful 2 weeks.
Peaceful adventures.
by Debra C.
It was an easy process and we will definitely do this again. We are already discuss our next trip.
Lovely cabin
by Joohyun K.
The property is at the end of a residential road and abuts the National Park on the quiet (west) of Acadia. You can get onto a National Park trail from the property (20 steps from the door of the cabin). One of the days we stayed, we took this trail to Long Pond, then hiked up Mansell mountain via Razorback trail. We didn’t have to get in our car at all that day. After long days hiking, we spent our evenings on the screened-in porch and cooked every night using the cabin’s well-equipped small kitchen. The cabin itself is beautiful. Another reviewer said that pictures don’t really do it justice and I agree. The wood is warm and beautiful and it’s construction is solid and precise. It’s everything a rustic cabin should be plus modern amenities like a bathroom, shower stall, electric stovetop, and screened-in porch. Our host Rob was accommodating and available. Check-in and communication were a breeze. We’re hoping to stay again soon!
Best cabin and location in the area!
by Ronald P.
My girlfriend and I just fell in love with the cabin and the peacefulness it offered. We plan on returning again next year about the same time. Rob and Marj made us feel welcome and were nice enough to lend us their lobster pot for a quiet seafood dinner. I would suggest this cabin or one of the others from the Rankins if you want a really well cared for cabin with all the amenities you could possibly need. The pictures look inviting but when you open the door you see just how beautiful it is and well made. The washer and dryer were a nice plus to have too. Thank you so much Rob and Marj. We will be looking forward to next summer. Ron
Great find!
We spent a week here with our family in July, and we loved it. ANP is literally right out the front door, and our 10 year old daughters rode their bikes down the trail leading to Long Pond, by themselves, almost every day. Marjorie & Richard, the cabin's owners, were very hospitable. They even let us borrow an air mattress when ours sprung a leak. It's a short drive to Echo Lake and Acadia Mountain, and it's only about 30 minutes to Bar Harbor. We thought it was well worth it to be on the "quiet side" of the Island. We would definitely go back!
Thank you for the wonderful review. Both Robert and I appreciate it.
Great get away
by Chris P.
The cabin was the perfect size for 2 people. Very private and away from the business of the busy end of the Island but still a very easy drive to anywhere you need to go to. The trails immediately off the property are awesome, some better than the other side of Acadia. I would highly recommend this property for a couple, or small family. Rob and Marj were fantastic hosts and very helpful with our needs! I look forward to taking another trip and will definitely get in contact with them when that time comes.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review. We strive for our guests to have the most enjoyable stay at our cabins. If you get this way in the future, keep us in mind and do tell your family and friends about us and your stay.
Outstanding. Unbeatable!!!
by Teri N.
We just left Southwest Harbor after 7 wonderful days at Acadia Explorer Cabin. Marj and Rob were gracious hosts and provided great hospitality. Our cabin was a beautiful, clean and comfortable retreat for us. The kitchen was well equipped and the water quality/pressure is great...plus the washer/dryer in the cabin really came in handy. The location was PERFECT...nice and quiet yet easily accessible to everything we wanted to do on Mount Desert Island and Bar Harbor. We are already planning our trip back for next summer. We wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. Thank you Marj and Rob! 🙂
Thank you so much for the wonderful review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at the cabin. It was our pleasure having you. We look forward to seeing you in the future.
Wonderful trip
by Laura S.
We had a wonderful experience in the Acadia Explorer Cabin. We were welcomed by Rob and Marj as soon as we arrived and they kindly introduced us to the cabin. The cabin was perfect! Great location, very clean, and essentials were taken care of. The trails located steps from the cabin were a wonderful bonus we were not aware of. I would highly recommend this cabin and the caretakers, we had an amazing week! Thank you
Great vacation
by Amy Z.
We have talked about going to Maine for 5 years decided we would finely go. Best vacation ever! They cabin we rented was wonderful trails right outside your door. Cabin was peaceful and relaxing in every way. The Rankins welcomed us when we arrived and showed us everything we needed to know. So much to see and do we can't wait to return.
Fabulous!
by Julie G.
The cabin is terrific! Clean and comfortable with all the modern conveniences, and also the rustic charm I wanted. Hiking trails right outside the door and convenient access to other parts of the park. It was peaceful and beautiful. Thank you Rob and Marj!
A perfect alternative to camping for our little explorer family!
by Katie M.
A lovely little cabin, wonderful location with trails and adventure waiting right outside the door. We couldn't have been happier with our stay!
The property was in a very pretty spot just next to Acadia National Park.
by Lois C.
The property was in a very pretty spot just next to Acadia National Park. We could literally walk out our front door and in less than a minute be in the Park to walk, hike and bike. The log cabin was very nice. It reminded us of our home (we have a log home) so we felt comfortable. Would recommend it to any couple looking for a quiet and meaningful experience in a beautiful setting.
Perfect, quiet and peaceful
by William B.
We will come back! SW Harbor is less crowded than Bar Harbor, not noisy and the cabin is perfect and you can walk to some of the trails we wanted to go on. When we come back we will definitely stay here again, we couldn't be more happy.

Perfect play to stay
by Stephen and Marsha D.
The cabin had everything we needed and is located on the Quiet Side in a quiet, secluded peaceful area, yet well within driving distance to Bar Harbor, Acadia, Bass Harbor and Schoodic Point. We appreciated the laundry facilities in the cabin and the screened in porch is especially enjoyable. Rob and Marjie are wonderful hosts and truly made our stay very enjoyable. We will certainly be back!
Steve and Marsha D.
Cozy, comfortable spot -- perfect!
by Joanne D.
Cabin was clean, modern, situated in a quiet, woodsy setting, and had all the amenities we needed. Conveniently located near Southwest Harbor town center and Beal's Lobster and a short drive from Bass Harbor. Beds were very comfortable, bathroom clean and shiny, and kitchen was extremely well furnished, with top-shelf cookware and a gas grill. Screen porch was a very nice feature -- great place to have morning coffee in full view of the surrounding pine trees. And it was great to come back from a day of hiking or canoeing or touring to the piney fragrance of the cabin. Rob and Marj live just a few hundred feet away and were very gracious and friendly. I'd come back in a heartbeat!
Much better than expected.
by Marek K.
The cabin that we stayed in looks much better in reality than the pictures depicted. Very well built and plenty spacious for two people and good for four as well. There are all what you need from pans and pots to dryer and washing machine. It was spotless clean. If you feel like cooking lobster you can do that too, just ask the owner for a pot and a gas stove. Quiet place at the end of the road in close proximity to some trails and a lake. Somebody mentioned a noise coming from a Construction Depot, but it didn’t bother us at all and it didn’t last long anyway. The check-in was easy. Because we were coming very late Rob (the owner) left the cabin open and the light on the porch. The next day, in the morning he came over to greet us and go over the basics. He is a very nice, responsive and helpful person. At the same time he gives you full privacy. We had a wonderful time and thinking about coming next year.
Loved our stay at the Explorer Cabin
by Carole M.
My husband and I loved our stay at the Explorer Cabin. The Rankins are excellent hosts. The Cabin is exactly as depicted. When we arrived it was clean, everything in working order and even a few extra commodities were included. The Cabin is on the quiet side of the island and very close to many excellent restaurants and hiking trails. Loved our week there.
Great cabin
by Kathleen H.
We had a great time in the Acadia Explorer Cabin. It was well equipped and clean. It was nice being on the Quiet side and a great place to explore Acadia national Park!!
Nice cabin in a great location.
by Ann-Marie B.
Cabin outfitted sufficiently for two people. Washer and dryer were very useful since the weather stayed warm and we brought mostly cooler weather clothes. Best thing was access to Acadia hiking and climbing directly from cabin. Avoided use of car some days.
A peaceful cabin in the woods
by Dianne S.
We had a spectacular week in Acadia. This cabin was cute, very comfortable, well equipped and spotless. Marg & Rob met us and gave info we needed; such nice people. After hiking most days and having dinner in town, it was great coming back to such a relaxing place. Enjoyed building fires a few evenings. Would definitely come back!
Lovely and very comfortable!
by David A.
The cabin was perfect. It had everything we needed for our week long stay. It was located close to groceries and trails and a short drive to all of MDI and Acadia National Park.
A Fantastic Cabin and Location for a Real Value
by Jason M.
We had a wonderful stay in this charming, cozy cabin which is perfectly located to enjoy and explore some of the best Maine has to offer including Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor, and the Asticou Azalea Garden. You can head straight from the screened porch after breakfast into the forest onto beautiful, well-maintained walking trails. It's also nicely situated and equipped for quiet afternoons or evenings enjoying the peace of nature, grilling out, or just sitting around a crackling fire. The owners were very friendly, hospitable, and readily available should we have needed anything. It was also a tremendous value. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better setup for the price. We hope to have an opportunity to visit again!

Excellent quiet spot. Could walk to trails.
by Amy D.
Loved the cabin with screened in porch. We had a great week.
Quiet, relaxing, well supplied
by JOE C.
We enjoyed the beauty and peacefulness of the environment. The cabin was well supplied including a gas grill and grill cooking tools as well as supplying cooking and cleaning supplies. The cabin was clean and comfortable. It was nice having heat, AC and a washer and dryer. The cabin was remarkably close to many hiking trails as well as close to the lake. The proprietors were very hospitable and available if needed. Lastly, where the cabin is located is relatively close to the park and other popular areas.
Very clean cabin, close to all the quiet side has to offer
by Douglas H.
This cabin was great.... it is so close to hiking trails,,, like 100 feet lol.. My family loved it, the porch is screened in so keeps bugs away... Pictures doesn't do the cabin justice, more room than you would think. Beals lobster pier is minutes away and echo lake is also" they have a beach"... when I return to the island, I will deff. be staying at this cabin again..... Had one of the best vacations .
Very clean and well equipped!
by Jennifer S.
This cabin had everything we needed. All we had to bring was our clothes and food. The washer and dryer was a huge benefit! It was great to head home and not have any laundry to do. Even though the cabin is close to the owners home it feels very private. We were very happy with our stay and highly recommended it!
Cozy getaway
by Jill G.
This was exactly what we had hoped for. Nestled away on the quiet spot on the edge of Acadia National Park. Surrounded by beautiful pine trees, and just steps away from a trail. We met one of the hosts, and he was very nice, but also kept to himself throughout the stay. Very good value, and lovely.
Wonderful stay at cabin
by Shawn G.
The cabin is vary clean and comfortable has all you need for extended stay. My wife and I had a great time close to all the Islands have to offer. Would highly recommend the cabin . Thanks for the great stay.
Nice quiet spot with everything you need
by Kevin B.
The property was very clean upon arrival and check in was easy. Rob was very kind and gave us all the pertinent info. The accommodations have everything you need/want, bed, bath, kitchen items, washer/dryer, bbq, fire pit, tv, wifi, heater, AC. The location is on a quiet dead end road and abuts the park (trails right outside your door), but still close enough to town/grocery store etc. We had a great stay and would definitely recommend!
Perfect proximity to Acadia
by Rebecca C.
There are miles of trails right outside your door! Plenty of hiking and biking to do without having to drive from the property and fine parking. This is our second summer staying here and we’ve already booked next year’s stay at their other property. Great patch of woods to play in and fire pit for roasting hotdogs and s’mores. The only cons are it’s a small space if you aren’t a couple and the kitchen isn’t elaborate so plan on simple meals or dining out. Hosts are just down the driveway but you never know they’re there. Great find and great value!!
Enjoyable
by Tim T.
Had a great time exploring all around Acadia & Mount Desert Island.
Great cabin great stay
by Curtis M.
Rob and Marjs cabin was a great home for our week in Acadia. We enjoyed our morning hikes directly from our front door into the park, and our evenings by the bbq and fire pit. The cabin is far enough from town for some excellent stargazing and privacy, but only five minutes from cafes, the grocery and the local main strip. Bring your soaps/shampoos/toiletries but the kitchen has the pots and pans and coffee maker you would need. The wifi was great enough for video calls if remote work is needed. We had a great stay- hopefully not our last. Thanks for hosting!
Cabin in the woods
by Janet K.
A wonderful spot with great access to the ‘Quiet Side’. A cozy cabin that is nestled in the woods near trails is the perfect get-a-way and come to nature!
Second year in a row
by Steven P.
The cabin is perfect. Rob is a great guy. We enjoyed it so much last year, we decided to come back again this year. We hiked directly from the cabin two days. The property is adjacent to Acadia.
Acadia Gem
by Michelle Y.
We had a wonderful time staying at this cozy cottage near Acadia in a quiet and peaceful setting. It had access to hiking trails just off the property and was only a short distance to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. The communication with the hosts was top notch and they were available to answer any questions we had. We would not hesitate to stay here again on a future trip.
A great place to call home for a week!
by Geraldine F.
Beautiful cabin ,great location, quiet , relaxing , hiking trails right at the end of driveway. I enjoyed this stay just as much as my first stay last year.. Rob is a nice guy great to deal with.
Perfect cabin for our visit to Acadia
by William E.
The cabin was just what we wanted--clean, quiet, peaceful and right on the hiking trail. We enjoyed our stay on the "Quiet Side" which is still close enough to everything on the island that we wanted to see. The hosts were very helpful and informative. It was a wonderful vacation and we hope to stay in the cabin again. Thank you Rob and Marj!
Loved it
by Michael D.
We loved this property. It was just what we needed for a perfect trip to MDI. The Rankins are great and we enjoyed our trip! So many great trails just outside the cabin, property is quiet and private, and I would highly recommend for families with children.
Perfect stay
We absolutely love this cabin! Rob came over to say hi, which we really appreciated! He also made sure we knew where to find his number for any questions/concerns. It was clean and well equipped. We literally had everything we needed! We typically come to Acadia to do 15-20 miles of hiking a day and then come back to where we’re staying to eat/crash each night! Having a kitchen and grill made that possible. We also loved starting and ending our day with the screened in porch! Summer in Acadia is buggy and this made it possible to enjoy the weather without the mosquitoes!
This was our first time actually staying on the “quiet side” and we will never stay anywhere else in the Acadia area. The locals are friendly, the restaurants are better/less crowded/less touristy, the trails are just as good and less crowded. The drives to different areas of the park are all reasonable.
Our favorite part of this location was access to trails! We literally a path right outside of the cabin, that takes you to a trailhead. How cool is that! We absolutely hope to stay here again the next time we visit! Thanks Rob and Marj for sharing!!
Great condition cabin
by Sunil K.
Will revisit again
Best vacation yet!
by Rose S.
We absolutely loved this cabin in Southwest Harbor! The cabin was very clean and cozy. The bed was the most comfortable bed we’ve ever slept in on a vacation! Which was so great after such busy fun filled days! Rob greeted us in person shortly after we arrived. Gave us some great recommendations on where to eat. Taught us where to catch the best trails into Acadia National Park from THE BACK YARD! We were able to hike Little Pond, Perpendicular Trail, and Great Notch without having to drive anywhere at all. Everything we needed was close by and Bar Harbor was only 30 minutes away!
We had the best week here and would recommend Explorer cabins to anyone wanting to stay out of the craziness of Bar Harbor! Thanks for a great time Rob & Marj!
Acadia Explorer Cabin
by Margaret G.
This was our third time staying in Cabin number 1. We were greeted upon our arrival by our host, Rob, and had a nice chance to chat before moving our gear into the cabin. As experienced in the past, the cabin was clean and neat and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing week. The wooded setting was quiet and peaceful and the screened in porch was a favorite spot for having a cup of tea and a good read. This cabin is perfect for the way we like to vacation and makes it possible for us to access all that Acadia National Park has to offer!
Peace and Quiet
by Daniel T.
For me, the location outside Southwest Harbor was perfect. The cabin has walking trails adjacent to it. The owners live a stone's throw away. That is a definite positive aspect, but I had absolutely no problems during my stay. I recommend this cabin without hesitation.
Had an amazing stay!
by Stephen S.
The cabin was our base camp and we were frequently out from dusk to dawn exploring everything. Rob met us as we got in and answered all our questions. We would definitely stay here again, and quite possibly may. We’ve already talked about a possible return trip. Thank you Rob and Marj
A great experience
by Vincent S.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this small cabin during our vacation. It's a cozy space with everything we needed. We would rent it again without hesitation.
Amazing Cabin in Perfect Location
by Brian H.
My partner and I had our best vacation to date. We had never been to Maine (or knew much about it!) and booked this cabin on a whim. For starters, the location is ideal. If you research Acadia, you may find that Bar Harbor is the best place to stay. I think Southwest Harbor is actually better because you can experience most of the same things. For example, you will have access to AWESOME hikes with amazing views, a nearby beach (5 minute drive to Echo Lake Beach), kayaking (5 minute drive to Long Pond), and several tasty restaurants and cafes in a cute town.
These options are available with less traffic, waits, and chaos. It's still busy in primetime but you will figure out how to schedule activities at the right times for the area. This cabin specifically has amazing trails that are walking distance. It has to be one of the few spots in the entire state that has such close access to gorgeous hikes. I can't overestimate the value of this cabin if good hiking is your goal!
Apart from the location, the cabin itself is a fantastic value. It's a beautiful place in the middle of the woods. You have the essentials: comfy bed, hot shower, kitchen appliances etc. As a bonus you have a screened in porch, Weber grill, and firepit.
The cabin had clean bedding, many fresh towels, but it didn't include soaps/shampoos so bring your own! We went to the local supermarket (5 minute drive to IGA) to buy hand and dish soap, as well as some ground coffee (cabin has coffee maker). We left these in the cabin so hopefully future guests can use them. The kitchen had all kinds of pots/pans/utensils/plates but did not have measuring cups, which could have been useful.
Our stay was peaceful, quiet, and relaxing. We didn't get to meet Marj, but Rob was super friendly/helpful/communicative. They have a friendly cat Tigger that roams around the property. Thanks again for a lovely vacation!
Beautiful cabin
by Rebecca N.
Great place to stay, very clean, nice amenities: fire pit, outdoor grill, deck furniture, heat and ac, WiFi works fine, direct access to hiking trails
Great hiking getaway.
by t g.
Loved the location and the feeling of really being in the woods. After a long day of hiking or kayaking, we came back to a wonderful peaceful home in the woods. We could even hike the trails right off the property so we didn't have to park at trailheads. Having a washer and dryer was a nice touch. Due to covid we had to eat in which wasn't a problem with the stove, gas grill, and with tables inside, on the porch, and a picnic table outside. Beautiful starry nights by the campfire topped off our days. This was our 2nd stay here and we would definitely come again.
Quiet mountain cabin

The cabin is cute and in a fabulous location with easy access to fabulous hiking.

by Karin H.
We loved the peace and quiet of the cabin, and the ability to escape our busy lives for a week. Thank you, Rob and Marj!
Cabin in the woods

A beautifully kept, perfectly located cabin with property owners onsite. We thoroughly enjoyed our Time once again and took full advantage of Acadia in our back yard. Great hiking and all comforts provided in this gem.
Vacation made easy.
by Nathan B.
The cabin had everything we needed and almost nothing we did not need. Great clean grill and perfect outside fire ring. Wonderfully quiet and right at the head of a path into Acadia NP trails.
Great place if you like fall on MDI. Easy access to the “quiet side” and Southwest Harbor restaurants. 10 minutes from Seawall!!
Great trip… Perfect cabin
by Steven P.
This cabin was a lucky find for us. It’s in a great location adjacent to the park. We hiked the first day right from the cabin never use the car. The cabin had everything we needed and was just perfect in every way. Robs a great guy… We didn’t need anything but he was A phone call away if we did. Will definitely be coming back to Acadia and will definitely be staying in one of Rob’s cabins again.
Amazing home
by Heather V.
We had such a great stay! The cabin was exactly as advertised. The proximity to trails ( probably about 50 feet from the door) was great since the whole point of our trip was to hike Acadia. The cabin was comfortable, sparkling clean, and provided a great place to relax after a long day of hiking. Having a washer and dryer meant that we only packed a few items of clothing and could travel really light! The kitchen was great and allowed us to prepare most of our meals, although we did splurge in bar harbor and southwest harbor a few times! We loved the cats that came to visit us at the door, and saw deer right outside our window quite a bit! Rob was Very pleasant and easy to communicate with. We would love to stay here again!
Great place to stay
by Geraldine F.
The cabin was beautiful, spent a lot of time on the screened in porch and at the fire pit , also made good use of the grill. A really relaxing week, trails right at the end of the drive way into Arcadia, couldn't ask for much more..
Special thanks to Rob and Marj for sharing your cabin.and being great hosts.
Hope to be back next year.

Cabin in the woods
by Brenda T.
This one room cabin was absolutely beautiful. Rob greeted us although we arrived quite late. He explained everything we needed to know as well as offering our niece and nephew, who were staying elsewhere, to pitch a tent in the clearing. the location was lovely, peaceful, and close to necessities. the sounds of wilderness were all around especially in the evening. We hated to leave! Thank you for allowing us to stay in your little slice of heaven!

Cute, Private, Close to everything
by Nicole F.
We loved our stay at the Cabin. Comfy bed, good water pressure. This kitchenette had everything we needed, the fridge is hotel size, but we made it work. The owner Rob was very nice, offered bigger logs for the fire pit and use of his wheel barrel to bring them to the cabin, also offered use of a large lobster pot if we needed it. We brought a hammock and was nice to relax in it and enjoy a fire. The screened in porch was great also, sat out there when it rained. Nice gas grill and picnic table. We loved having so many trails right outside the door. Wish we could have stayed longer to hike them all. The cabin was clean and well kept. Close to the grocery store and restaurants and everything we went to do was with in a 20/30 minute drive. Bar Harbor was very crowed even early in the day, So glad we found this cabin and stayed on the quite side of the island. Beautiful area. Can't wait to visit again. Thank you again for sharing your place!
Nothing short of Perfect!

We loved the cabin, location in the trees and a stones throw to a trail.. convenient to all local activities and expedient responses from the owners.. made our first trip to Maine not our last.
Acadia Solitude
by Margaret G.
Our week in the Acadia Explorer cabin was a relaxing experience. Both times we have rented the cabin, we found it clean and equipped with all of the necessary items to make our stay simple and enjoyable. Rob and Marj, the property owners, are welcoming and helpful. The cabin is adjacent to a spur trail to Acadia National Park, which makes hiking the trails at Long Pond and Beech Mountain convenient; no car needed! The screened in porch is the perfect spot for a snack, cup of tea, and a quiet read after a busy day on MDI. There are several nice restaurants and shops in Southwest Harbor, which is a short drive away. Even though we had a very busy week, we came home refreshed and relaxed after our stay at the Acadia Explorer cabin!
Happy place

Rob and Marj have 2 great cabins, they provide everything we need, including peace and quiet. This is our go to retreat when we visit MDI.
Just a few steps away from Acadia NP

We had a great time! The best cabin! Had everything you can want…even a friendly outdoor orange tabby cat that answers to “Tigah”. Thanks Rob and Marj
Fantastic!

Everything as advertised
by Charlene C.
We've stayed at the Sea Ranch many times and we would give this house high marks for views, amenities and privacy. We brought our 5 year old black lab and the trail to the bluff was conveniently nearby. The hot tub cover was a little tricky but we figured it out. Would stay here again.

Beautiful Birthday Spent at Sea Ranch
by Keren Y.
We enjoyed a great stay at Sea Myst. The two master bedrooms were perfect for us, as a couple with their mother who were out to celebrate a birthday. The property was exactly as described in the listing and shown in pictures. We had everything we needed to prepare several meals. We enjoyed using the deck and all it offers to enjoy the sweeping views. The views from inside are beautiful as well. It didn’t hurt that we had some magical days with no fog! we enjoyed seeing the local wildlife from the windows and deck in the morning and evenings. We enjoyed walks on the trails and on the beaches. Our communication with the property manager was also good. We hope to come back in the future. Thank you to the owners for sharing their beautiful home with us.

Sea ranch base
by Arthur R.
Great location close to two sandy beaches with caves and tide pools and the main coastal trail. Far enough from highway 1 that there is no traffic noise. The hot tub, gas BBQ, and fire pit made it fun to hang out in the backyard. Deer came through the yard several times. There was no shampoo or conditioner, but maybe that was due to covid limitations.

Lovely home, would definitely stay there again.

Comments for the owner:
1. Grill cover on deck is badly torn and should be replaced.
2. Takes a while to warm up in the morning since no central
heating.
3. A small indoor table to eat at (in addition to the counter)
would be nice.

Lovely Labor Day Weekend Retreat
by Susan J.
We enjoyed our blissful stay at Sea Myst. Newly updated, the unit had everything we needed: utensils, dishes, cutlery, supplies, new appliances, and more. The space was designed for both shared time as a family with two adults and one dog, as well as quiet time on the deck, upstairs in a small office loft, in the spacious and well separated bedrooms, and of course, for walks to the beach and along the paths and bluffs of Sea Ranch. Deer, quail, pelicans, and even a sea otter, were spotted in the long lovely days during our stay. Hope to return again soon!
Peaceful, tasteful sanctuary for a restful stay in nature
by Jan B.
Gorgeous property. Very well decorated, lots of light, wraparound balcony with views in all directions. We saw the sunset every night. Hot tub is a great feature as is the grill. House is small but perfectly proportioned for a family or group of friends. Excellent location, far enough for quiet and privacy but close enough to get on main road etc. note, house is almost handicapped accessible, so if you need this depending on your mobility constraints ask. I found it quite accessible overall compared to other properties.
Rec center and amenities like golf etc. also are terrific. All in all a wonderful place!
Lovely Sea Ranch
by Lynne H.
This property is just as the pictures indicate. The views were amazing and the hot tub inviting. We even had a fox visit us in the evening. It’s was just a short walk to the beach and trails. My only suggestion would be to use unscented laundry detergent. Many people are sensitive to smells as I am and the scented laundry soap was not pleasant for me. The home is lovely and the kitchen well supplied. I would stay there again.
