Heaven's Nest is a VIBE! It’s nestled among the famous granite boulders with EXPANSIVE views of Lake Tahoe on one side, and of Carson Valley on the other, you feel as though you are in the clouds (or Heaven?). Like a lot of homes in Tahoe with lake views, you have to climb about 4 full flights of stairs to the front door.

HOME NUISANCES
- Having great views comes with a cost, THE STAIRS! You have to climb about 4 full flights of stairs to get to the front door so please consider that before booking.
- There is no garage at this home. Parking is on the street level off to the side closest to the bear box.
- The TVs in this home are Smart casting only. No cable. There are very detailed directions in the guest book.

PARKING PASSES
Douglas County requires all renters to display a parking pass on the dash of their car for the duration of their stay. They are located inside the home on the wall by the front door. Please put this on your dash immediately upon arrival to avoid a fine from the county. If the box is empty let us know right away. Reminder: we are only permitted for a certain # of vehicles to be parked in the designated areas only (garage, driveway, parking lot, etc). No street parking is allowed at rentals, per the county, regardless if you have a parking pass or not. Appreciate your cooperation with the Douglas County rental ordinance!

COUNTY RENTAL LAWS
Please understand that these are laws set forth by the county that we all must abide by in order to keep Lake Tahoe an enjoyable and safe place to visit for years to come! 🙂
1. 10pm - 8am is the county quiet time for all rentals.
2. Trash goes into the bear box only and is not to be left outside.
3. We cannot host extra people at this home or allow parties.
4. No extra cars, parking on the street OR on the dirt.
*Possible fines from local police or eviction can result if laws are not followed.

- QUIET NEIGHBORHOOD: In Tahoe it’s so quiet at night that you could hear a pin drop! As a result, we can only host quieter groups that will abide by all of the county laws. Our guests are normally fine as long as they head inside or to the casinos after 10pm. Appreciate your understanding!
- REVIEWS: We kindly ask for understanding and compassion when sharing feedback about this home, just as we strive to approach responding to reviews with empathy. - TRAVEL INSURANCE: We highly recommend that all of our lovely guests purchase travel insurance as we normally do not refund for Covid, smoke, fires, weather, snow storms, road closures, etc. 
- WINTER TRAVEL ADVISORY: After the historic Winter of 2023, we recommend 4WD vehicles with snow tires, tire chains and experience driving in the snow. Emphasis on snow tires. Tahoe roads are icy and power outages are common. Please always wear snow boots and walk with care on icy pathways.
- BBQ/DECKS IN WINTER: BBQs are not serviced and decks are not shovelled during the Winter.
- LATE CHECK OUT: Please let us know 24 hours prior to check out, if you wish to request a late check out. First hour is free then $25/hour after that, not to exceed 1pm. Please note our cleaners sometimes travel for up to 1 hour to clean this home so we ask that you please respect the 10am check out time.
- NO AC: Like most homes in Tahoe, there is no AC but we do provide plenty of fans.
- HIGH FIRE RISK: Lake Tahoe is a high-risk fire area. Fireworks, wood fire pits, smoking/improper disposal of cigarette butts and charcoal bbq’s are prohibited.
- BLACK BEARS: Black bears inhabit Lake Tahoe and are attracted to food and trash. Always lock your car doors, roll up windows and view from afar. Please do not feed our bears.
- TOWELS: We supply one bath towel, one wash cloth per occupant and then one hand towel per bathroom.
- SECURITY: Most of our homes have exterior-only security cameras and noise decibel monitoring systems to ensure we are in compliance with the county ordinance but we take our guests privacy VERY seriously. There is never indoor cameras. Most owners only look to see bears and snow levels at their homes 🙂
- MOUNTAIN CRITTERS: It’s not uncommon at any home in Tahoe to find little mountain mice, spiders, spider webbs, ants, mosquitos, etc. Our homes have on-going extermination services but despite our best efforts, these little critters might make their way inside. If found it doesn’t mean a home is dirty, let us know and we will do our best to mitigate such findings.

WINTER TRAVEL ADVISORY
A storm in Tahoe can drop up to 2 feet or more in 24 hours so if you haven’t been to Tahoe during a heavy Winter, please take note. The roads and driveways in Tahoe are only plowed when snow accumulates to more than 6 inches so if it snowed less than that or you are coming during an active storm, you will arrive to snow on the roads leading up to this home AND on the driveway. Since street parking is not allowed during the Winter, you will need to drive over the snow either using chains or with your 4WD engaged (or both) and onto the driveway. There are also shovels provided for shoveling. Especially after the historic Winter of 2023, we do not recommend coming to Tahoe unless you have a higher clearance 4WD vehicle with snow tires, tire chains and experience driving in the snow. Always bring chains no matter what kind of car you have. Even if it’s not actively snowing, Tahoe roads are steep and icy. Power outages are also common. The Grand Welcome difference is we have a very experienced local team who are here to help you during your stay – as long as safety allows. If we can get to you, we will come help! Not all hosts have this kind of local support so this is the benefit to booking a Grand Welcome home!

House rules

  1. By booking this home you agree to the county rental laws and the following house rules. Failure to abide by any of the below items may result in an eviction with no refund. We don’t like doing it but in order to keep our owners rental permits intact, sometimes it has to be done. Vast majority of our guests have no issue but every once in a while we do get a rowdy group. We do our best to communicate with you long before it leads to an eviction so please have your booking cell phone on you during your stay. Message us if you have any questions or concerns and we appreciate your understanding on the matter 🙂
  2. COUNTY LAWS & HOUSE RULES
  3. Must be 25 or older to book this home.
  4. Strictly no hot tub use after 10pm - only if applicable!
  5. 10pm - 8am is the county quiet time for all all rentals.
  6. Trash goes into the bear box only and is not to be left outside.

  8. No extra cars, parking on the street OR on the dirt.
  9. No smoking on the premises and especially no flicking cigarette butts.
  10. No open flame fires, fire works, bonfires, etc - due to high fire risk.
  11. No yelling, blasting music, fighting or other loud noise that could disturb the neighbors.
  12. No pets unless the home is specifically pet friendly. We do host service animals unless the owners are allergic as it is then a health and safety issue. Please contact us to double check.
  13. DAMAGE
  14. You are covered for any accidental damage and then anything seen as neglectful, you will be charged. It’s best to report all damage to us right away so the appropriate measures can be taken. If you treat this home as if it were your own, then you should be fine.

Fantastic rental for my 40th bday weekend

Such a cool experience being tucked away a bit but also minutes drive to the lake and restaurants. Views were fantastic and the stairs with altitude were great workouts whether you wanted them or not! Once you get to the top you may need a breather before going up the final stairs to the kitchen area haha. Place came with almost everything we needed. One tiny thing I could've brought had I known were tongs as I like to use those for the bbq. Also just FYI the master bathroom doesn't have it's own door so we just used the door to the master bedroom to signal to the other downstairs bedroom user whether it was occupied or not. I guess that person could also share the bathroom upstairs. Can't wait to go back to Tahoe and possibly back to Heaven's Nest! Thanks for the great rental.

I agree with an earlier post. The pictures do not do it justice. The view was truly heavenly. Above 7400 feet above sea level. While we were there, it snowed on Mothers Day only enhancing the trip. Easy to get there and seamless check in. This is my 2nd most favorite trip only behind Capri Italy. We will be back.

Gorgeous views from all the windows, quick responses from the management team, detailed guest book to address any questions, labels throughout the property to identify lighting, etc., beautifully decorated, comfortable beds, very clean. We were very happy with our stay. The only negative was the stairs to get to the front door, but so worth the climb!

Beautiful Property, Excellent Location

This property is stunning! The pictures on VRBO undersell it. The master bath is a dream bath, the location is fantastic, and the view cannot be beat! The way the entertainment system is set up makes the television, streaming, and music very easy to use. The outdoor spaces make taking breakfast or coffee outside in the morning a highlight of the trip. Listening to music while reclined in the soaking tub cannot be beat! The property is well maintained and was very clean. A couple of notes: The description says there are a lot of stairs. I was prepared after staying in several mountain locations, but the other guests thought a lot meant 10 or 15. There are 62 steps from the street to the front door and another 14 to the upstairs rooms. My partner and I (45/47) and in moderate shape did not have an issue with them. My sister (46) who doesn't work out regularly found them challenging, as did her 8 year old son with asthma. My father (72), who uses a cane for balance, found them nearly impossible. Additionally, the property uses scented chemicals (Tide, Mr. Clean, Windex) to keep it clean. Individuals with scent sensitivities may be bothered by these products. The power went out on our day for check out. I was able to quickly reach the property management company and resolve the issue. The property management company is great! My partner and I will definitely be back! This was a dream property for us.
Thank you for the review and great feedback. We try to make it very clear in the description about the stairs and also state this as clearly as possible in the rental agreement before a guest signs. It is important to us that people are well informed and can make the right rental decision for their party prior to booking, due to the stairs and the altitude. We will work to find more ways to make this explicit.

Breathtaking

Once I got past the staircase to heaven and was able to catch my breath at the top of the stairs the magic began…the views from heavens next are what my family needed for a true getaway and connection with nature. The house is updated with lots of beautiful touches. The master bedroom is huge and the views from here too are stunning! The upstairs is just the same. Spotless and welcoming. Breathtaking

Once I got past the staircase to heaven and was able to catch my breath at the top of the stairs the magic began…the views from heavens next are what my family needed for a true getaway and connection with nature. The house is updated with lots of beautiful touches. The master bedroom is huge and the views from here too are stunning! The upstairs is just the same. Spotless and welcoming. Amazing Views and perfect Location

Beautiful view

We really enjoyed this house. The view is unbeatable. Even though we had to climb those stairs, it was well worth it. My husband has always wanted to live up in a mountain, staying in this house for our Lake Tahoe trip has made his dream came true. Thank you.

Perfect holiday

We have stayed at plenty of rental homes and we can easily say this was by far the one with the most breathtaking views, best prepared, provisioned and organized. Holly and Stephane exceeded our expectations in providing us with every necessity to enjoy our holiday from detailed instructions on how to use electronics/appliances, fully stocked toiletries, ample linens/towels and suggestions of local things to do/see/explore. Just as important is how beautifully decorated their home is with comfy furniture indoors and outdoors, and top notch fixtures/finishes. The tranquility is worth the drive (and the stairs) - a perfect getaway …. we hope to be back again.

Great View

7400 feet of great views. A lot of steps but not as bad as we thought. May be tough in winter. Close to everything in South Tahoe. Well stocked home had everything we needed. No TV unless you stream. Property manager was very responsive and helpful. No air conditioning so be aware if it is hot. Would definitely stay again.
