Located just outside of downtown Park City is the Utah Olympic Park (or UOP if you want to sound like a true local), a 400-acre venue where the 2002 Olympic Winter Games were held, and where many of the structures built for the events remain still. Although the games have been over for over 20 years, you wouldn’t know it from the amount of tourism and excitement that continue to flow through the park.
With a sliding track, six Nordic ski jumps, an Olympic Games museum, and plethora of activities, the Utah Olympic Park is dedicated to growing participation in winter sports in and outside of Utah. Here, athletes can use the facilities to train in their sports year-round.
Experience the thrill of a lifetime getting inside of a bobsled and racing down the sliding track. A professional pilot will take passengers down the actual track used in the Olympics for the bobsled event. Running from December to April, this is a can’t-miss experience!
In the summer, Utah Olympic Park stays alive with a mix of adventure and education for the whole family. The museum stays open all year and is a great place to learn about the games and the preservation of the sport of skiing, but the Freestyle Aerial show featuring the Flying Aces is also must-see, with ski jumpers jumping up to 60 feet in the air, performing aerial tricks before landing safely in a pool in front of spectators.
Even if you don’t aspire to be an Olympian, there’s still plenty of other activities to enjoy. Ziplines, extreme tubing, and ropes courses will delight kids and adults alike.
