The Honolii Hale - Oceanfront

Enter through the impressive front doors into the main living level, where comfortable leather seating, driftwood-inspired furnishings, and handcrafted details frame the open-concept living and kitchen area. The updated kitchen features stainless steel appliances and a generous island, while large sliding doors open directly to the expansive wraparound lanai. A staircase trimmed in stained ʻōhiʻa wood leads to the lower level, with a dramatic picture window overlooking the coastline along the way. Downstairs, additional living areas include a chaise lounge and work desk, along with handcrafted lava-rock details and large sliding glass doors opening to the lower lanai, lawn, and stream-side setting. A secondary food-preparation area provides a convenient spot for drinks, snacks, and casual meals. Below the garage, the bungalow offers a private retreat with a kitchenette and its own lanai overlooking the stream and ocean. During whale season, you may even be fortunate enough to spot whales offshore.

Outdoor living takes center stage throughout the property. The 360-degree wraparound lanai features stone tile, stained ʻōhiʻa wood posts, a large mango-wood dining table with seating for 10, and several smaller seating areas overlooking the water and tropical surroundings. Beyond the lanai, the Honoliʻi Hālau provides a covered open-air setting for dining and gathering, with nearby amphitheater-style seating facing Honoliʻi Stream. The grounds also feature a gas grill and outdoor cooking area, hanging chain bench swing, outdoor beach shower, and a path toward the shoreline.

This home accommodates up to 10 guests across 3 private bedrooms and a studio suite.

Bedroom #1 features a queen-size bed, smart TV, balcony access, and a full Jack-and-Jill bathroom with a double vanity and walk-in shower.

Bedroom #2 features a California king-size bed, a twin-size sleeper sofa, smart TV with cable, and lanai access. It also has access to a Jack-and-Jill bathroom with a double vanity and separate shower and tub.

Bedroom #3 includes 2 full-size beds and access to a covered patio.

The studio suite offers a full-size bed, a twin-size bed, and balcony access with views toward the beach.

The home also offers 3 shared half bathrooms.

THINGS TO NOTE
- A washer and dryer are available in the home.
- The home includes 2 dedicated garage parking spaces.
- This home is equipped with (3) Ring system cameras: (1) in the garage monitoring the parking area, (1) at the front door monitoring the entrance, and (1) at the outdoor kitchen monitoring the river.
- Honoliʻi Hale is a multi-level property with numerous stairs. Guests staying on or visiting the lower portions of the property should be comfortable navigating approximately 2.5 flights of stairs to reach the upper entrance and exit.
- Because of the home's natural terrain, stairs, pathways, stream-side setting, and proximity to the ocean, guests should use appropriate caution throughout the property. Children should be closely supervised around all water areas, stairs, lanais, and outdoor spaces.
- Tropical Environment: One of the special aspects of Honoliʻi Hale is its setting directly alongside the ocean, stream, and lush Hawaiian vegetation. Guests may encounter insects, geckos, and other wildlife commonly found in tropical Hawaiʻi. The home receives regular professional pest-control service to minimize activity; however, completely eliminating insects in this environment is not possible. We appreciate guests embracing this as part of staying in a beautiful tropical setting.
- A rental car is recommended for guests planning to explore Hawaiʻi Island. Rideshare and taxi services may also be available between the property, airport, and Hilo.

Honoliʻi Hale is nestled along the coastline just outside downtown Hilo, offering the feeling of a private tropical retreat while remaining close to town. Known for its natural beauty and surf, Honoliʻi Beach Park invites guests to take in the sights and sounds of the Pacific, explore the surrounding area, or simply spend the day at the property. A short drive brings you to the Hilo Farmers Market, local shops, restaurants, galleries, and cultural attractions, as well as Liliʻuokalani Gardens along Hilo Bay, Rainbow Falls, and Wailuku River State Park. Hilo International Airport is also conveniently located nearby, making it easy to arrive and explore East Hawaiʻi.

Aloha and welcome to Honoliʻi Hale! We want you to relax, enjoy this special oceanfront property, and have a memorable stay. Please help us care for the home, surrounding land, and neighborhood by observing the following house rules.

Check-In & Check-Out:
- Check-in: 4:00 PM
- Check-out: 10:00 AM
- Early check-in or late check-out must be approved in advance.
- Please follow the departure instructions provided before check-out.

Registered Guests & Occupancy:
- Only registered guests included on the reservation may stay overnight at the property.
- Maximum occupancy may not exceed the number stated on your reservation.
- Please contact us in advance regarding any additional daytime visitors.

No Parties or Unauthorized Events:
- Parties, receptions, weddings, ceremonies, or other events are not permitted without prior written approval.
- The Hālau, amphitheater, lawn, and other outdoor spaces are for the enjoyment of registered guests and should not be used for organized events unless specifically authorized.
- Excessive noise, amplified music, or disruptive gatherings are not permitted.

Quiet Hours:
- Please be respectful of our neighbors and the peaceful surroundings.
- Quiet hours are from 9:00 PM to 8:00 AM.
- During quiet hours, please keep voices, music, televisions, and outdoor activity at a reasonable level.

Parking:
- Parking is provided for two vehicles in the garage.
- Street parking is limited and may become congested during busy beach and surf days.
- Please do not block neighboring driveways, gates, roadways, or access points.
- Parking is at the guest's own risk.

No Smoking or Vaping:
- Honoliʻi Hale is a smoke-free property.
- Smoking or vaping of any kind is prohibited inside the home, on lanais, and throughout the property. Additional cleaning or remediation charges may apply if evidence of smoking or vaping is found.

Pets & Animals:
- Pets are not permitted at the property, except as otherwise required by applicable law.
- Please do not feed feral cats, birds, or other wildlife around the home.

Ocean & Stream Safety:
- Honoliʻi Hale is located directly alongside the Pacific Ocean and Honoliʻi Stream. These are natural environments and conditions can change quickly.
- There is no lifeguard on the property.
- Entering the ocean or stream is at your own risk.
- Never assume water conditions are safe based on appearance.
- Please use extreme caution around wet rocks, shorelines, stream banks, and changing surf or water conditions.
- Children must be closely supervised around the ocean, stream, lawn, lanais, stairs, and all outdoor areas.
- Never dive or jump into unfamiliar water.
- Please follow all posted warnings and local weather, surf, flood, and ocean advisories.

Surfing & Water Activities:
- Honoliʻi is known for surfing, but ocean conditions can be challenging and are not appropriate for every swimmer or surfer.
- Guests are responsible for evaluating conditions and their own abilities before participating in any ocean or stream activity. The property does not guarantee the safety or suitability of conditions for surfing, swimming, paddleboarding, or other water activities.

Stairs & Property Access:
- Honoliʻi Hale is a multi-level home with numerous stairs, pathways, lanais, and changes in elevation.
- Guests should be comfortable navigating approximately two and a half flights of stairs from the lower portion of the property to the upper entrance.
- Please use handrails when available, use extra caution when surfaces are wet, and supervise children at all times.

Tropical Environment:
- The property's oceanfront and jungle setting is part of what makes Honoliʻi Hale so special.
- You may encounter geckos, insects, birds, feral animals, and other wildlife common to Hawaiʻi. The property receives routine professional pest-control service; however, occasional insects and wildlife are a normal part of the tropical environment.
- Please keep doors and screens closed when possible and do not leave uncovered food outside.

Protect Our Home:
- Please secure doors and windows when leaving the property.
- Do not sit, stand, or climb on lanai railings.
- Children must be supervised on all lanais.
- Please do not hang towels, clothing, or other items from railings.
- Outdoor areas can become slippery from rain, sea spray, and humidity. Please use caution.

BBQ & Outdoor Cooking:
- Please use designated grills and cooking areas only.
- Never leave a grill unattended while in use, and make sure it is completely turned off after cooking. Please do not move grills from their designated locations.

Trash & Food:
- Please dispose of trash in the designated receptacles and keep food properly stored. This is especially important in a tropical environment, where exposed food and trash can quickly attract insects and animals.

Air Conditioning & Energy Use:
- If applicable, please keep exterior doors and windows closed while air conditioning is operating and turn off unnecessary lights, fans, and appliances when leaving the home.

Lost & Found:
- Please check carefully for personal belongings before departure. Items left behind that require return shipping may be subject to shipping and handling charges.

Before checking out, please:
- Remove personal belongings.
- Place trash in the designated receptacles.
- Place used towels in the designated area.
- Load used dishes into the dishwasher and start the cycle.
- Turn off lights, fans, and small appliances.
- Close and lock doors and windows.
- Return keys or access devices as instructed.
- Please do not strip the beds unless instructed to do so.
