REVIEWS: We kindly ask for understanding and compassion when sharing feedback about this home, just as we strive to approach responding to reviews with empathy. Your reviews have a lasting impact on the home and its owner, who are real people behind the scenes. We genuinely value your input and appreciate constructive feedback that can help us enhance our offerings.
TRAVEL INSURANCE: We highly recommend that all of our lovely guests purchase travel insurance as we normally do not refund for Covid, smoke, fires, weather, snowstorms, road closures, etc.
WINTER TRAVEL ADVISORY: Due to the potential of heavy snowfall, we recommend 4WD vehicles with snow tires, tire chains and experience driving in the snow. Tahoe roads are icy and power outages are common. Please always wear snow boots and walk with care on icy pathways.
FIRE SAFETY/SMOKING: Lake Tahoe is a high-risk fire area. Fireworks, wood fire pits, smoking/improper disposal of cigarette butts and charcoal bbq’s are prohibited. Smoking is strictly prohibited on the property, Tahoe Donner facilities, parking lots, and open spaces.
TOWELS: We supply one bath towel, one wash cloth per occupant and then one hand towel per bathroom.
SECURITY: Most of our homes have exterior-only security cameras and noise decibel monitoring systems to ensure we are in compliance with the county ordinance, but we take our guests' privacy very seriously. There are never indoor cameras. Most owners only look to see bears and snow levels at their homes.
MOUNTAIN CRITTERS: It’s not uncommon at any home in Tahoe to find little mountain mice, spiders, spider webs, ants, mosquitoes, etc. Our homes have on-going extermination services but despite our best efforts, these little critters might make their way inside. If found it doesn’t mean a home is dirty, let us know and we will do our best to mitigate such findings.
BE BEAR AWARE - Tahoe is bear country—secure food and lock vehicles. Do not leave garbage or food of any kind outside the home. Trash must be locked up in your bear-proof container, never in your neighbor’s container, or dumped anywhere in Tahoe Donner.

Beautiful cabin (much better than the pictures) and great location, but the management company is unresponsive. They failed to clear the driveway during a snowstorm and we were confronted with 2-3 feet of completely unplowed driveway upon arrival, leaving us stuck and forced to shovel for hours just to get our cars off the street and into the driveway safely. They rely on automated messages and provided zero help when we were in a safety bind. Stay for the house, but don't expect any support if something goes wrong.

Thank you for your feedback and for highlighting the cabin and its location—we’re glad you enjoyed the home itself. We understand how challenging winter travel can be, especially during heavy snowfall. During your stay, the area experienced unusually severe snow accumulation, and while snow removal is managed by a third-party service, conditions can change quickly during active storms. We appreciate you sharing your experience, as it helps us continue improving our communication and support during extreme weather events.
