Summary Summary
History buffs and design lovers! You're cordially welcomed to indulge in the timeless elegance of The 1865, a gem from the Civil War era that once operated as a tobacco auction house.
Description Description
Marvel at 46 exclusive units nestled within this impeccably restored Nashville building, letting you time-travel while relishing in modern comforts. Swoon over perks like our community pool and fitness center – while all the best of Nashville is at your fingertips.

The 1865's remodel blueprint is nothing short of an architectural and design masterpiece, paying homage to the building's historic roots while gracefully waltzing it into the present. Every apartment and common space boasts restored elements like exposed brick, trusses, and beams - a testament to details of the era that still enchant after 150 years. Even modern-day connoisseurs will appreciate how The 1865 masterfully weaves contemporary design with a dash of vintage and eclectic flair, resulting in a dreamy, boutique-style getaway.

This rental consists of 2 separate but neighboring units located in the building’s basement level. What makes these units special is their unique level of privacy and seclusion that allows guests to enjoy the deepest possible rest. Because of their lower-level location, these units feature exposed stone walls that are the very foundation of the building. The rich stone detail is an aesthetic delight, and also a grounding feature that creates unmatched coziness. Not to mention, staying in the foundation of this building further enriches the experience of staying on a property that is foundational to the history of Nashville. Thoughtfully placed lighting creates a soft and restful mood, while the units are expertly designed to offer an open-concept main living area to maximize quality time amongst guests. In each home, the living room provides ample seating, a smart TV, vibrant textiles, and completely unique art pieces. Steps away, the kitchens come fully equipped with a suite of stainless steel appliances and necessary cookware to whip up a meal from home, which can be enjoyed at the kitchen tables, each with seating for 4.

Each home sleeps 4 guests between 1 private bedroom and a queen size sleeper sofa. The bedrooms are furnished with a queen size bed and boast the same unique character found throughout the building. The only variation in layout between these 2 units is the bonus room. Each unit has a quaint bonus room which can serve as additional living space or a quiet room for working and reading. In 1 unit, the bonus room holds the queen size sleeper sofa, meaning it also doubles as a private sleeping space. In the other unit, the sleeper sofa is found in the living room.

THINGS TO NOTE:
- Guests have access to an in-house speakeasy in the condo complex.
- The home has 1 bathroom with walk-in shower.
- 1 unassigned parking space is available.
- Washer and dryer in unit.
- Please note: Units #11 and #13 are separate units that do not connect. They are the only units on the floor level designated for your vacation rental experience.

The construction for the speakeasy will commence on 12/07/2023 and is expected to be completed within seven weeks, completion to be due in March of 2024. During this period, there may be some associated noise and increased activity in the basement area. We want to assure you that every effort will be made to minimize any inconvenience.
The team is working closely with the contractors and owners of the speakeasy to ensure that construction hours are limited to business hours, primarily during weekdays, to mitigate disturbances. Additionally, all necessary measures will be taken to maintain the security and cleanliness of common areas throughout the construction process.

The 1865 is an amenity building that offers an intimate bar, plunge pool, and private lobby. Guests are welcome to enjoy the shared space as desired. The property is located between the 28th Avenue connector to the West End and Marathon Village, which grants you easy access to all of Nashville’s most popular landmarks. There are several cafes, restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues within walking distance or a short drive. With a stay here, Nashville and its history are at your fingertips.
Please note that requests for late checkout must be received no later than 10:00 AM local time on the day prior to your departure. This rental is great for a weekend in Nashville. The location is private and safe, and the two separate units are close to each other and spacious. It is quite dark in the apartments, as they are located on the basement floor, so you could wake up at 9am and think that it's 9pm because of the lack of natural light. But, if you are only visiting for a fews days and plan to spend most of your time out and about anyway, this shouldn't be much of an issue. The speakeasy located right across the hall is also very cool and worth checking out.

Thank you for the feedback! We're glad you enjoyed the location and privacy, and we'll take note of your comment on the natural light—thanks for the heads up for future guests.

First off, we had gotten there 30 minutes early and requested if we could check in early so we didn’t have to wait in the parking lot. They didn’t answer me until it was check in time. To regardless we had to just sit and wait outside the rooms. Then when it was finally time to check in, none of the codes worked that were given. I had to call support to get it fixed and even then it didn’t work and they had to get me to find a lock box with the manual key in it. Then when we FINALLY got into the room, there was water ALL over the floor in one of the units. They then had to get a maintenance man to come I and figure out what was wrong. Then they said the leak was fixed…the next morning the whole floor was wet again and gotten all over a bag FULL of clothes and toiletries. We had to go to target to replace the toiletries. The only accommodations offered was extra towels and laundry detergent. We paid ALOT of money for this stay, just for it to feel like a ton of work.

We sincerely apologize for the challenges you faced during your stay. We understand how frustrating it must have been to wait for check-in and experience issues with the door codes. While we often need until the 4 PM check-in time to ensure the property is fully prepared, we regret that the communication delay impacted your arrival. Additionally, we deeply apologize for the water leak, which we have since learned was caused by a neighboring unit not managed by us. We realize how disruptive this was, especially with your belongings being affected, and regret that our response fell short of resolving the issue completely. Your feedback is valuable, and we have reviewed our processes to improve for future guests.

We booked this stay specifically because it was basement level. Loved everything about the 2 units. Unable to access one unit using the keyless code, we were quickly given the code to the lockbox for an actual key. Two things you should know: the door for one of the units is directly opposite the entrance to the speakeasy. You'll hear music and people coming and going. It was not a bother for me, the bedroom is at the far back of the unit. The other unit has uncovered windows which allow anyone traveling through the hallways to see into the unit. My friend was not bothered, but I would suggest adding a window covering to the lowest window behind the tv.

Thanks for your detailed feedback. We're glad you enjoyed both units and appreciated the quick resolution with the key access! We’ll definitely take note of your suggestions about the window covering and speakeasy proximity to help improve the guest experience.

These units were beautiful & the fact that we were across the hall from the speakeasy was the cherry on top! You can hear noises easily through the roof and walls but that’s expected staying in a basement, so didn’t mind it. We had a small hiccup with the power but the hosts took care of it immediately and got it back up and running. I would stay here again!

These units have a definite cool factor. They are in a basement so its like being in an interior room on a ship- always seems like nighttime. Good for sleep. They were clean and the decor was perfect for the vibe. It is helpful to have a car (good parking) since its a long walk to downtown. But uber is a short ride too. We were surprised the units are so completely separate but rented as one. But it wasn't a problem, they are only about 50 feet apart. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
