The Kualoa Ranch and Private Nature Reserve, established in 1850, is a 4000 acre private nature reserve, as well as a working cattle ranch with more than 500 head of cattle.
The ranch is family owned, and has been passed down through six generations, and boasts a variety of activities that cater to a variety of visitors of all ages. The ideal spot for a full day of fun while soaking up the magnificent Hawaiian weather.
One of the ranch’s major claims to fame is that it has been the filming site of a number of blockbuster films such as Jurassic World, Jurassic Park, Windtalkers, Pearl Harbor, Godzilla and Tears of the Sun. It is also the filming site for a variety of television shows such as Hawaii Five-O, Magnum P.I. and LOST, earning it the nickname of “Hollywood’s Hawaii Backlot”. They offer a variety of guided tours of the various filming areas.
One of the more interesting and exciting ways in which to explore the area is by zip line. The Ranch offers a 2.5 hour zip lining tour where, in addition to adrenaline-inducing lines that stretch from 200 feet to ¼ mile, guests will learn about Hawaiian culture and traditions.
If you want to explore some of the more remote areas of the ranch that aren’t accessible on foot, ATV tours are offered. They offer one and two hour tours where you will explore scenic valleys and movie locations while experiencing amazing views of the Pacific Ocean. The tours operate, come rain or shine!
Another exciting way in which to explore the ranch is on one of their horseback tours. The tour is two hours long and takes guests to multiple movie location sites, through forests, and offers spectacular mountain and ocean views.
