Hawaii Kai

Hawaii Kai is located on Oahu’s southern shore and is one of the largest residential communities in Oahu.  This community also houses several Oahu vacation rentals. Hawaii Kai is a great destination for a vacation rental not only for the peaceful community, but for the wide variety of attractions.  One attraction is the Koko Marina Center located on Kalanianaole Highway and Lunalilo Home Road. This plaza has shopping, dining, water-sports, and an impressive movie theater.  With a slow-paced atmosphere you can dine amongst the boats with stunning views of the blue water.

Hawaii Kai is situated on among Maunalua Bay.  This bay is well-known for jet skiing, parasailing, and even boating.  Please note, this may not be the best spot for swimming as the ocean bottom is shallow and home to a reef.  Maunalua Bay Beach Park is also close by and offers a secluded beach ideal for picnicking and watching golden sunsets.  This beach is often less crowded than more well-known beaches such as Waikiki and Hanauma Bay.

There are several hiking trails in Hawaii Kai to choose from.  One of our favorites is the Koko Crater Railway Trail. The trail is built on an old railway line, with wooden sleepers creating over 1,000 stairs to the peak.  You will come across a bridge to pass over, or take a bypass trail before reaching the top. After 45-60 minutes you will come across the breathtaking peak with 365 degree views of east Honolulu, Diamond Head, and blue ocean.
