Festivals and Fun Year Round

Although you may not think of it, the area of northern Georgia is known for its festivals! With celebrations happening year-round, there is likely to be something fun to join in on no matter when you visit. Here are just a few of the annual festivals to check out:

 * Fire and Ice Chili Cookoff (President’s Day Weekend) – the perfect blend of fiery chili and ice sculptures.

* Troutfest (last weekend in April) – learn all you wanted to know to have a successful fish outing in the Trout Capital of Georgia.

* Blue Ridge Wine and Jazz Festival (June) – live music, local wine, art exhibits, and amazing food.

* Arts in the Park (Spring and Fall) – hundreds of local artists and craftsmen on display. Enjoy food booths, demonstrations, and live music and dance.

* Blue Ridge Kiwanis Rodeo (August) – a fully western rodeo featuring calf roping, bareback riding, steer wrestling, bull riding, barrel racing, and more.

* Light Up Blue Ridge (Saturday after Thanksgiving) – the annual Christmas festival with live music, caroling, and the official lighting of the Christmas tree. Even Santa makes an appearance!

* New Year’s Wine Train (New Year’s Eve) – turn the year over on a festive, wine-themed ride aboard the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway.
