Day Trips from Orlando

If you’re looking for something new and exciting to do, there are plenty of day trips from Orlando. Here are some ideas to satisfy the whole family!

For nature lovers:

Airboat tour of the Everglades

Wild Florida is one of the most family-friendly day trips from Orlando. This adventure park offers airboat tours into the Florida Everglades, up-close encounters with alligators, and even a drive-thru safari where you can see both native and exotic animals. Don’t forget to get your picture with a gator!

Blue Spring State Park

The spring waters are crystal clear and warm, which makes kayaking in the park a must-do. You can get up close and personal with manatees—and a lot of other Florida wildlife too, like bald eagles and osprey, river otters, turtles, and maybe even a gator.

Wekiwa Springs State Park

The park has a large river that is fed by natural springs and various trails that visitors can use to see local wildlife and explore the area. If you like off-road bicycle trails, birding, camping, horseback riding, fishing, geo-seeking and geo-caching, hiking, and kayaking, this trip is for you! This is also the perfect area for snorkeling because the water is so clear.

For those looking for something unique:

Kennedy Space Center

Located in Cape Canaveral, the Kennedy Space Center is where the US launches rockets and space expeditions from. If you’re heading down to central Florida, make sure you check the launch schedule! Even when there aren’t any space rocket launches taking place, you’ll be mesmerized by the many exhibits at the Center. Be sure to book your tickets in advance!

Daytona International Speedway

Daytona is often called the ‘World Center of Racing’ and hosts various motor events each year, including the Speedweeks in early February which attracts hundreds of thousands of NASCAR fans for the opening of the Daytona 500. If you don’t want to catch a race, you can still take a tour of the facilities and see the action behind-the-scenes.

For the beach bums:

Orlando may be landlocked but there are still beautiful Florida beaches within a 1-2 hour drive from the city:

Cocoa Beach

Ormond Beach

Daytona Beach

New Smyrna Beach

Canaveral National Seashore

Whatever you decide, make sure you check out our Orlando vacation rentals with a pool because you’ll need a place to escape that Florida heat!
