When to Visit Lake Tahoe

The best times to visit Lake Tahoe are from March to May and from September to November. With warmer weather in July and August, Tahoe shores are packed with visitors. During the fall, there is very little activity but, as the temperatures decline, visitors re-emerge with skis in hand, ready to hit the slopes. Traveling in March or November specifically will allow you to experience the area at a fraction of the price.

Lake Tahoe has a long winter and short summer, but pleasant outside still when it’s snowing. The coldest months tend to be December through February, when temperatures are usually in the 30s. Temperatures get a bit warmer, edging upwards of 50 degrees in April, but large snowstorms are still quite common. Come June, most of the snow has melted and summer has begun. By August, daytime highs could be in the 90s, though evening temperatures will often drop back into the 60s. September and October are still warm enough for all summer activities, though it can drop below freezing at night.
